Spiering
makes the show, loses in second round
at IHRA event at Toronto Motorsports Park
“We’re going to make some
changes and get this hot rod running.”
CAYUGA,
ON (September 25, 2006) – “It’s been a tough
year. It’s just been one thing after another.”
Carl Spiering was commenting on his second-round loss in the
Pro Modified division at the International Hot Rod (IHRA)
eMax Drag Racing Series Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports
Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
Spiering qualified ninth in the 16-car field in the Eaton
Electrical Supercharged Pro Modified Chevrolet Camaro with
a 6.196-second, 230.76 mph pass. After winning the first round
against fellow Canadian and top qualifier Tony Pontieri of
Toronto, Spiering, of Jordan Station, ON, rolled out and red-lighted
in the next match and was eliminated.
“We’ve had some clutch trouble,” Spiering
explained. “We made some changes and they worked but
I rolled through the beams.”
Spiering, who won this IHRA event at TMP last year, was optimistic
for the next national event in Maryland this coming weekend,
adding the team was committed this week in getting the car
thrashed out for a strong showing.
“We’re going to make some changes today and do
some testing and get this hot rod running. Then it’s
off to Maryland.”
The next International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) eMax Drag
Racing Series, race ten of the 11-event of the season the
Torco Racing Fuels President’s Cup Nationals will take
place September 29 – October 1 at Maryland International
Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland.
