Carl
Spiering Motorsports Eaton Electrical Corvette in solid position
after first day qualifying in Texas
SAN
ANTONIO, TX
(March 24, 2006) –
Carl Spiering holds down ninth position after two rounds of
qualifying at the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals in the International
Hot Rod (IHRA) eMax Drag Racing Series in San Antonio, Texas
at San Antonio Raceway on Friday.
Driving the Carl Spiering Motorsports, www.carlspiering.com,
Eaton Electrical Supercharged Pro Modified Chevrolet Corvette
Spiering ran 6.148 seconds elapsed time at 233.32 miles per
hour to sixth spot in the first round of qualifying for the
Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified field under partly cloudy 73-degree
skies.
Spiering aborted the second run of qualifying while up against
Glen Kerunsky. Both drivers launched, shook the tires, headed
toward the centerline, and shut down before they came into
contact with each other.
“The Eaton Road Warrior was real smooth in the first
run,” said Spiering, who hails from Jordan Station,
ON. “We found some extra horsepower in the Eaton Electrical
Corvette over the winter and we tried for a better shot in
the second round and shook the tires.”
“The guys will go over the car tonight. This is a tuff
league with great competitors but my guys are good, real good,”
Spiering added. “We’ll be in good shape for next
rounds on Saturday.”
Pro Modified qualifying will continue on Saturday afternoon
and Saturday night with the third and forth round before the
final eliminations on Sunday. |
