Spiering qualifies number two for Edmonton finals

“With the 7-7-7 date I had a feeling we might get lucky tonight”

EDMONTON, ALBERTA (July 7, 2007) – With a feeling it might be his lucky day, Pro Modified drag racer and driver of the Eaton Road Warrior Carl Spiering ran a quick lap for number two spot, just 0.001 of a second short of the number one spot .
 
In front of a standing-room only crowd at Castrol Raceway, Spiering powered his Carl Spiering Motorsports Eaton 1967 Supercharged Chevrolet Camaro to a 6.103-second 234.37-mph run in the final round of qualifying to the bridesmaid position second behind Kenny Lang at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series in Edmonton, Alberta.

The race is the team’s first IHRA outing for 2007.
 
“I had a feeling we might get lucky tonight, we fell just a little short,” said Spiering. “I’m proud of my guys we put up a good fight and we plan to create some havoc during eliminations on Sunday, we want this to win this event.”

Grande Point, Manitoba’s Lang covered the quarter-mile in 6.102-seconds, picking up No. 1 qualifier honors followed closely by Spiering.

Spiering will face Danny Rowe’s 1963 Corvette from Rossville, GA, in the first round of final eliminations that are scheduled to begin on Sunday at 10:30 p.m.

The CARS RV & Marine & Motorsport Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Torco Racing Fuels is the fourth of eleven events on the $19.5 million 2007 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series.
